Accor Red Ball Event
A walk through the centre of Munich on Tuesday the 8th of June 2010 caused a big surprise for most passers-by. The Max-Joseph-Square looked like a field of poppies. 1,500 red balloons distributed over the entire square hovered in an elaborate artistic installation. In addition a big red ball jutted out of the mass.
What had happened overnight? With only two weeks preparation, Metzler : Vater Live Communication planned and organised a spectacular event in Munich on behalf of Accor Services GmbH, the service branch of the French hotel group Accor. The reason for this event was to publicise the change of the company name to Edenred as well as its initial public offering - with a big bang! In bright sunshine the service provider for this event invited visitors and passers-by on the Max-Joseph-Square to puncture as many balloons as possible at 1 pm. In cooperation with "Children for a better World", Edenred donated a meal for needy children for every burst balloon. As an additional incentive for the participants every 10th balloon contained a gift coupon, which could be exchanged for a restaurant voucher with a value of 5 Euro or a gift card "Shopping Card' with a value of 25 Euro.
And the action was a big success: participants eagerly awaited the starting shot given by presenter Viola Weiss of Radio Gong. In less than 20 seconds the field of red poppies made of balloons dissolved into thin air creating an acoustic firework.
